In spite of the big number of letter-orders known nowadays (nearly 700), no comprehensive study of this kind of document has been done since the appearance of Sollberger’s TCS 1. The aim of this thesis is to gather all the edited material, to present a study about formal characteristics and to subdivide the letters into archives and, if possible, to attempt a reconstruction of the socio-economical image of the Ur III society.
