Fellowships are open to students and scholars in Near Eastern studies from prehistory through the early Islamic period, including the fields of archaeology, anthropology, art history, Bible, epigraphy, historical geography, history, language, literature, philology and religion and related disciplines.

Seymour Gitin Distinguished Professorship:
$45,000 award for 9 months or $22,500 for 4.5 months. Room and half-board at the Institute is $1,078 per month and the remainder is stipend. Open to internationally recognized senior scholars of all nationalities who have made significant contributions to their field of study.

Annual Professorship:
$15,000 award for 4.5 months. The stipend is $10,149 plus $4,851 for room and half-board for appointee at the Institute. Open to post-doctoral scholars, who are US citizens.

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Fellowships:
$58,800 available for up to three awards from 4 to 9 months. The award is $4,200 per month; room and half-board at the Institute is $1,078 per month and the remainder is stipend. Open to post-doctoral scholars who are U.S. citizens (or alien residents for at least three years).

Ernest S. Frerichs Fellow and Program Coordinator:
$11,500 for 9 months. Open to doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars. Residence at the Albright is not required for this fellowship. Recipient is expected to assist the Albright’s Director in planning and implementing the Ernest S. Frerichs Program for Albright Fellows, which requires a working knowledge of living and traveling in Israel and includes leading an annual trip abroad.

Educational and Cultural Affairs Fellowships (ECA):
Junior Research Fellowships: $31,000 for up to 3 awards from 4.5-9 months. Room and half-board at the Institute is $1,078 per month and the remainder is stipend. Open to doctoral students and recent Ph.D. recipients who are U.S. citizens.

Associate Fellowships:
13 administrative fee awards for senior and junior fellows (for one or two semesters).

Noble Group Fellowships for Chinese Students and Scholars:
$75,000 available for up to five awards with a maximum grant of $25,000 for nine months and $12,500 for 4.5 months. Room and half-board at the Institute is $1,078 per month and the remainder is stipend. Open to Chinese citizens who are doctoral students or post-doctoral scholars, and are doing research in China or at institutions in other countries.

Glassman Holland Research Fellowship:
$12,000 for 3 months. The stipend is $8,766; remainder ($3,234) is for room and half-board at the Institute. Open to all European post-doctoral researchers who are permanently resident in Europe.

George A. Barton Fellowship:
$5,000 for 2 months. The stipend is $2,844; remainder ($2,156) is for room and half-board at the Institute. Open to all doctoral students and recent Ph.D. recipients.

Carol and Eric Meyers Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship:
$5,000 for 2 months. The stipend is $2,844; remainder ($2,156) is for room and half-board at the Institute. Eligibility is for doctoral students whose research involves the study of archaeology and society in the biblical or early post-biblical periods. Topics dealing with society at the household level are encouraged.

Lydie T. Shufro Summer Research Fellowship – NEW!
$3,000 award for one month during the summer.  The stipend is $1,922; room and half-board at the Institute is $1,078. Open to doctoral , post-doctoral, and senior scholars of all nationalities.  Due Date:  October 1, 2014

W.F. Albright Associate Fellowships:
No stipend. Open to senior, post-doctoral, and doctoral researchers. Administrative fee required.

Mediterranean Regional Research Fellowship Program:
This regional fellowship program enables doctoral and early post-doctoral scholars to carry out research in the humanities and related social sciences in countries bordering the Mediterranean and served by American overseas research centers. Funding for this program is generously provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.  Open to US citizens or permanent resident; award amounts range from $5,700 to $33,600 depending on number of months awarded.

Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) Multi-Country Research Fellowships:
The program is open to U.S. doctoral and post-doctoral scholars in the humanities, social sciences, or allied natural sciences and who wish to conduct research of regional or trans-regional significance. Fellowships require scholars to conduct research in more than one country, at least one of which hosts a participating American overseas research center. Approximately eight fellowships of up to $10,500 each will be awarded in the doctoral candidate/post-doctoral scholar competition.

ACLS Recent Doctoral Recipients Fellowship:
$35,000 for 10 months. The stipend is $24,220; remainder ($10,780) is for room and half-board at the Institute. Eligibility is limited to awardees and alternates of the Mellon / ACLS Dissertation Completion Fellowships the prior year. For application and more information: www.acls.org
