THE BRITISH INSTITUTE FOR THE STUDY OF IRAQ (GERTRUDE BELL MEMORIAL) – BISI is currently inviting applications for Academic Grants and Visiting Iraqi Scholarships.

ACADEMIC GRANTS  (DEADLINE 1 FEBRUARY 2015):
Research and Conference Grants (usually up to £4,000)   Annual Pilot Project Grant (usually up to £8,000)
BISI provides funding to support research, conferences and one annual pilot project that focus principally on the lands and peoples of Iraq. VISITING IRAQI SCHOLARSHIPS  (DEADLINE 1 FEBRUARY 2015):
Every year BISI awards scholarships to enable Iraqi scholars and cultural heritage professionals to engage in research, training and collaborative projects in the UK. Projects should focus on the history, society or culture of Iraq. BISI welcomes applications from scholars involved in the following fields: anthropology, archaeology, history, geography, languages and other areas in the arts, humanities and social sciences. Applicants should be currently based in Iraq and should demonstrate how time spent in the UK will strengthen the research and cultural heritage environment of Iraq.
