The 65th Rencontre Assyriologique Internationale has recently concluded a very successful meeting in Paris. The IAA board extends its thanks to the organizers: we will soon publish a report of the event.
In the meantime, here are some important announcements made during the General Meeting, which was held on Thursday, July 11:

The six winners are Rodrigo Hernaiz, Francesca Minen, Irene Sibbing-Plantholt, Elyze Zomer, Marta Pallavidini and Ludovico Portuese
IAA Dissertation prize
Winner: Shiyanthi Thavapalan with a dissertation entitled “The Meaning of Colour in Ancient Mesopotamia.”
Runner up: Marine Béranger with a dissertation entitled “Développements des pratiques d’écritures et de l’expression écrite: recherches sur les lettres de l’époque amorite (2002-1595 av. J.-C).”
Elections of new members of the IAA board
– Representatives of RAI organizing committee:
Walther Sommerfeld (Marburg 2017) is stepping down and Stefano de Martino (Torino 2021) will replace him
– Members of affiliated scholarly associations:
The term of office of Paul-Alain Beaulieu, University of Toronto, Canada (AOS) as representative of the American Orienta Society (AOS) is ending this year. He stood for re-election. The membership re-elected the candidate per acclamation.
– Election of a new member of the Board:
The term of office of Aaron Schmitt is ending this year. He did not stand for re-election. The candidates were Cinzia Pappi and Lorenzo Verderame.
The President introduced the two candidates. The membership proceeded to vote: Alexander Pruß and Caroline Waerzeggers collected and counted the votes. Cinzia Pappi has been elected.
