This research project aims at understanding the phenomenon of the wind in the Ancient Mesopotamian world. First, meteorological wind will be examined taking into account modern and ancient records (archaeoclimatology). Secondly, the role of winds in Akkadian and Sumerian literature (mythological, medical, etc.) will be studied. The main purpose of this project is to analyze, compare and contrast the data collected in order to trace back harmonized streams of tradition as well as changes in the imagery of the winds. The project includes the edition of some hitherto unpublished tablets relevant to this subject. [table “6” not found /]
