1. JOB VACANCY VISITING IRAQI SCHOLARSHIP CO-ORDINATOR (PART-TIME, LONDON-BASED)
Since 2005, BISI has been running a Visiting Iraqi Scholarship programme, sponsoring academic visitors from Iraq to come to the UK. To date, BISI has enabled over 25 scholars to engage in intensive programmes (usually lasting 1 to 2 months) of research, training and collaborative projects in this country. We also offer one joint scholarship a year with the Deutsche Orient-Gesellschaft.
We are now looking for a confident, self-motivated Co-ordinator to manage the Visiting Iraqi Scholarship Programme over the coming year.
They will play an important part in assisting our scholars from Iraq to achieve their academic goals and to have an intellectually enriching experience in the UK.
Salary and Hours: £12.14/hour, equivalent to university Grade 5, spine point 15, including London allowance. This is a part-time, flexible position, which could be worked around post-graduate study. On average the post is c.20–30{518531fadeb811ae8faec8ba5977a8511c844f925d504d488b0d90b6c297e400} FTE, 8-12 hours a week, depending on the work that needs to be done in any one week. Reasonable travel expenses will also be reimbursed.
The post is offered on a self-employed basis and is mainly home-based. It is for 12 months in the first instance, with the potential for renewal. Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

2. OUTREACH GRANTS
Every year, BISI offers grants to support public engagement projects that promote a greater understanding of the history, society and culture of Iraq. Past activities previously supported by the scheme have ranged from lectures and publications to performing arts projects. Outreach Grant applications should normally be for an amount of up to £500 but more substantial grants may be made.
