The aim of this research is to explore and elucidate the “Dark Age” showing how this “Assyrian Pax” was an important factor in the development of antique civilization. It will be elucidated how the new Assyrian order was the historical precedent of many imperialist projects in the follow centuries, including the late Babylonian empire, the Persian, the Hellenistic kingdoms and, finally, Rome. For these reasons, special considerations should be attributed to epigraphic, archaeological, diplomatic and literary sources that enable improved vision and understanding of this period of Ancient History.
