The IAA deeply misses Wilfred van Soldt (1947-2021), its first president (2003 – 2005), and its secretary from the foundation of the association till 2016.
After the founding of the IAA in 2003, Wilfred formed the constant center of the Association, restlessly handling the entire organization.
The entire community of scholars working on the ancient Near East, philologists, archaeologists, art historians, linguists, historians, owes him a great deal. We will remember him with great gratitude and admiration.
