The Institute for Ancient Near Eastern Studies (IANES) of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Tübingen invites applications for a Full Professor (W3) for Near Eastern Archaeology and Digital Archaeology (f/m/d) to commence as soon as possible.

 We are looking for a recognized scholar who is able to represent the field of Near Eastern Archaeology broadly in research and teaching, with a particular focus on the use of digital methods. Internationally recognized publications and proven experience in the application of digital methods are expected. Experience in the conception and management of field research projects in the Near East (Southwest Asia), a research focus on the geographical area of cuneiform cultures, good national and international networking and experience in acquiring third-party funding are desirable. Teaching in the institute’s German-language B.A. and M.A. programs is expected as well as willingness to cooperate within the institute and to participate in interdisciplinary joint projects at the University of Tübingen, and to contribute to interdisciplinary courses within the Tübingen archaeology departments, in particular the English-language M.A. program in Archaeology. Applicants with limited German language skills will be supported by language learning programs offered by the university.

Required qualifications include a doctorate in the field of Near Eastern Archaeology, a habilitation or equivalent academic achievements and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.
