The Institute of Near Eastern Studies, Indo-European Studies and the Archaeology of Prehistory to the Early Middle Ages at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena invites applications for the position of a Research Assistant in Ancient Near Eastern Studies to begin October 1, 2026.
The successful applicant will support the Chair in research, teaching, and administration, with a 4-hour weekly teaching load. A particular focus of the role is the university’s “Frau Professor Hilprecht Collection of Near Eastern Antiquities.”
The position is initially limited to three years, with the possibility of an extension. It is designed to foster academic growth, and the candidate will be expected to work toward further scientific qualification (e.g., Habilitation).
