The Department of Archaeology at Bilkent University, Ankara, invites applications for one open-rank faculty position:

We shall consider applications from scholars having an active fieldwork in Turkey or an international research project involving Anatolian archaeology regardless the period concerned. Candidates whose work includes the integration of digital tools and techniques with traditional archaeological methods will be favorably considered, as well as those having an expertise on cultural heritage and museology.

Minimum requirements are a Ph.D. in archaeology or in a related field at the time of the application, a good teaching record, a clearly defined research agenda, and publications in recognized journals. Candidates should be able to teach specialized topics in their research field, as well as general courses in archaeology, including archaeological theory.

Bilkent University is an English-medium institution, and instruction is in English. It is the first private, nonprofit university in Turkey and was founded on October 20, 1984 with the fundamental aim of creating a center of excellence in higher education and research.

As research is a priority at Bilkent University, its support includes grants for conference travel and the possibility of sabbatical leave following the third year. Successful applicants will benefit from a reduced teaching load during the first two years.
